What would you do during an assessment?
Evaluations
New Perspective is pleased to offer comprehensive evaluations for clients who wonder whether they might be neurodivergent and/or seek to better understand how their brain works, their emotional reactions, and how they can get support for areas of their lives that feel challenging (i.e., social relationships, staying on top of everyday tasks, managing burnout). This assessment can provide you with a prism through which to understand your own experience.
We have particular expertise and experience with assessing AFAB (assigned female at birth) and BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People Of Color) clients.
Our goal is to offer a thorough and cost effective alternative to lengthy and cost prohibitive neuropsychological testing that makes self-knowledge accessible to more people.
During evaluations, we ask questions about your history and present functioning, we assess how you select your answers, respond to perceived errors, manage frustration/boredom and interact with the examiner. This assessment/interview is designed to evaluate many aspects of a person’s inner and outer life, developmental history and current functioning in order to see how the various pieces fit together, and to explain—in simple, actionable terms—how these have led to the whole picture you’re seeing and experiencing. Depending on the assessment tier you choose, we may also interview family members, partners, friends and other people you identify as important in your life.
This assessment has three/four parts:
Two separate 60 minute clinical interviews
Written responses to clinically relevant questions
Answering multiple choice structured assessments questions online
Some clients may also elect to have people close to them participate in collateral interviews
What do I receive at the end of the assessment?
At the end of the assessment you will receive a written report summarizing our interpretation of the information we gathered during your assessment. This report may include a diagnosis of ASD, ADHD, and/or other conditions.
If appropriate, suggestions of reasonable accommodations that you can request at work/school.
If appropriate, suggestions for you and your individual therapist’s continued work together
A 30 minute meeting to discuss the results of our assessment.
Interested clients can also schedule a separate appointment for your assessing clinician to provide partners/family members with information on how neurodiversity may impact your relationship and facilitate a conversation between yourself and that person on how they can best support you
Interested clients can also schedule a separate appointment in order to discuss ways to address specific concerns such as burnout, psychoeducation on assertive communication strategies/advocacy regarding personal and professional accommodations, and how to communicate with others in your life about your neurodiversity more broadly.
